Last month, on one of the few fine days, Julie and Alex flew in from New Zealand to get married in Barnabrow in Cork. Julie is Irish and Alex English, but neither of them are from Cork, so hillarity ensued as the whole wedding party got lost trying to find their way around the windy back roads to the church in Ballintotis. Despite being local, I turned on the sat nav myself!
I first met Julie and Alex on Skype about a year ago, but met them in the flesh just a couple of days before the wedding. It was lovely to get to know them, and listen to how they had met, and had come to choose Barnabrow for their wedding venue. We clicked straight away, and I was delighted to be a part of their wedding day.
The ceremony was lovely, and the priest, an old family friend, had the congregation in tears of laughter. Neil, lead singer with The Trips, played acoustic guitar during the ceremony, and again at the champagne reception. Speaking of The Trips, they really rocked the house down later that night – brilliant band!
