Back in September Nirvana and Laurie celebrated their beautiful humanist wedding in Barnabrow House, in east Cork.
Nirvana’s smile and personality radiated when I met her and Laurie a few months before that, as she described what she hoped for on the day. It was a lovely small wedding, with the ceremony taking place in Barnabrow, in the same sun room that would later be filled with tables and chairs and happy diners. They also wanted to walk ‘down the aisle’ together, although the layout of the room meant that they just popped in at the top of the room through the double doors!
Before coming in to the ceremony they met in the Orchard at Barnabrow, witnessed only by me and a group of donkeys! Then we had champagne with Grainne and Matt under the trees beside the orchard, and off we went to get married.
It was a bit of a funny day weather wise, with sunshine for the ‘first look’ in the morning, and then it began to rain, and lashed right through the ceremony. Afterwards though it happily dried up again, and we were able to take family photos on the moss covered steps, and some lovely photos of Nirvana and Laurie there too.
When we first met, we had discussed the fact that east Cork is filled with fields of straw bales during late summer. Nirvana loved the idea of going into one of these fields for a few photos, so we slipped down the road to nearby Ballymaloe and took a few shots just inside the entrance driveway. Freddie the dog came too! All in all a fabulous day with a wonderful couple 🙂
